Your body converts vitamin D into a form called 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D), also known as calcidiol. The 25(OH)D blood test is considered the most reliable way to assess vitamin D status. The level of 25-hydroxyvitamin D in the blood reflects the total amount of vitamin D obtained from sunlight, food, and supplements.

🔍 What levels are considered optimal?

  • Levels between 30 and 50 ng/mL are generally considered sufficient for overall health.
  • Levels below 12 ng/mL indicate vitamin D deficiency.
